Broomfield and Xcel Energy's Partners in Energy Challenges Businesses to a Year of Energy-Saving Actions
Join the Broomfield Energy Savings Team
The City and County of Broomfield and the Access Broomfield Chamber recently joined together with Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy in the development and adoption of an Energy Efficiency and Engagement Plan for the Broomfield business community. This effort was prompted by the City and County of Broomfield’s 2016 Comprehensive Plan update which outlined energy and environmental priorities.

The Energy Efficiency and Engagement Plan establishes the goal of achieving 365 energy-related actions from Broomfield businesses by the end of 2018 – or about one energy action per day. An energy-related action can be counted by doing any number of energy saving activities. Examples of these activities range from installing a programmable thermostat or on-site solar to participating in an Xcel Energy efficiency and/or renewable energy program or a United Power energy audit. Participating businesses may experience lower energy bills, reduce maintenance needs, improve occupant comfort, and/or lessen their energy-related environmental impacts.

Businesses are encouraged to implement at least one efficiency or renewable energy activity, and then log their energy actions online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/BESTLog. Additionally, participating businesses will gain recognition from the City and County of Broomfield, Access Broomfield Chamber, and Xcel Energy.

Look for opportunities throughout 2018 for businesses to join and participate in the Broomfield Energy Savings Team (BEST), including outreach and networking events, a new LinkedIn group, and sector-specific energy efficiency program information and rebates.
